Happy New Year

My end of year came with some bad news. My little brother was in a nasty snowboarding accident a few days ago. He is still in the hospital but from what I have heard today he is doing better. I am so relieved that to hear that he is going to be okay especially since it could have been so much worse. I haven't had many heart stopping moments but when my dad said he was in an accident, it sure was one of them. I am hoping he has a speedy recovery and no lasting side effects. He is going to be down and out for a while which I am sure won't sit well with him as he is an active free spirit kinda guy. So gotta say I love you lots little brother and I wish I could be in Montana right now with you.

It's time to make some resolutions that I probably won't stick to but at this point I am determined to try. The first one is to get healthy, this includes working out, eating better, and quitting smoking (again, sorry dad I started back up). My plan is to start with the working out and eating better to lose some weight and then quit smoking since I gained so much the last time.

Next we are going to do some improvements to the house I am renting from my parents, they have agreed to pay for tile and screens. Ryan and I are going to do the labor ourselves and they are providing the financing!

The last is to start saving some money in the hopes of purchasing my own home. Renting has it's perks but it kinda feels like throwing money away. Also with home prices the way they are now is the perfect time to buy. It won't happen overnight which is why I am still going to do some improvments around here!

2009 was a really good year for me and I can only hope that 2010 will either meet it or top it!

Oh the Holiday Season is over (Thank GOD)

Okay so in my earlier post I was actually excited about Christmas but the closer it got the more grinchy I felt. I listened to Christmas music everyday, we watched Christmas movies every night, I had everything all prepared and ready to go....

But the closer it came the more I just wanted it to be over. I decided that the best thing was the long weekend. Well Christmas has come and gone and it was pretty anti-climactic. All the months of build up and it was done and over with by 8:00 AM Chrismas morning when I dropped the kids off to their dad. Now all I have to look forward to is putting all these new toys away, putting the decorations away until next year, and losing the weight I gained from all the goodies I ate. It's not as much fun as it was when I was a kid. There were quite a few things that I did enjoy and I will list them here as proof that I am not a complete Bah Humbug Scrooge..

I enjoyed picking out gifts for everyone

I really enjoyed seeing family and spending time with them

I enjoyed the wine I drank

I really enjoyed all the goodies my aunt made (she makes the best sugar cookies) and the spritz cookies my grandma made (BEST EVER)

I loved seeing the kids faces when they woke up Christmas morning and saw the tree with lots of presents underneath it

I loved getting to spend Christmas day with Ryan but it was bittersweet

I loved all the great pictures that my brother took

I loved being able to donate toys and food to the less fortunate

Overall it was a good holiday but I am glad that it's over for another year. I don't know if the season begins to early or if it doesn't last long enough. Now it's almost the new year and time for some resolutions that I probably won't keep!

Tis the Season

Happy Holidays! For once I am actually super excited about the holidays. I am actually prepared ahead of time. I have finished all my shopping and all I need to do is wrap. I am so excited about some of these presents I have picked out. I got the perfect things for my kids, my BFF, and the hardest person ever to shop for, Ryan! I have purchased all the stuff I need for baking. So for you lucky few be expecting some cherry blossoms, buckeyes, Oreo truffles, pretzel bark, and red velvet cake balls. We have decorated the tree which the cats are determined to destroy. I keep squirting them with the spray bottle but so far it hasn't deterred them much. I have even done Christmas cards this year. I have been listening to Christmas music at work and it seems like all I need is a little snow! (but really no thanks, I am already freezing)
Plans are in full swing for Adia's birthday party. We will be having it a week early since she will be at her dads on her birthday weekend. There have been a ton of people invited. It will be nice to get together with so many family and friends. I am going shopping today for the snacks she has requested be served. She decided on Doritos, fruit and marshmallows with chocolate dip, popcorn, and chocolate cake with chocolate icing. I am actually going to make a second cake just in case we need it. I will probably also get a few more snacks to broaden the menu a bit! The theme is Pink Cowgirl, I also have some regular plates for the boys who may not really want to eat off of girly plates. She decided to give out ornament craft kits to everyone for favors. I think we are all ready to go and this is shaping up to be the biggest party for her yet!
We averted disaster earlier this week when Adia's hamster Fluffy escaped from his cage. I was so afraid I was going to come home from work and be picking up little hamster parts cause the cats caught him but no. Turns out we should have named him Lucky instead of Fluffy! I had locked the cats in a bedroom to do a better search for the little rodent but had to go back in for something and lo and behold there was Fluffy! I had locked him in with the cats!!! He was scampering away from the cats who were ready to pounce when I snatched him up and saved him. YES I AM A HAMSTER HERO!!!!!!!!! No applause necessary, really it's what any mom would have done.

Altered Altoid Tin

I went for a shoe theme. Not sure if the receipeint even really likes shoes.... the magnets inside are all high heels and the outside has lots of different wellies. I sometimes wish I lived somewhere more wet so I could wear wellies and not look like a total jackass.

Count Chocula

Another stenciled shirt. Made for Tero in a personal swap we did. I love the way he turned out and want to make one for myself to wear next year. I also have the stencils for the Boo Berry Ghost and Frankenberry!

Happy Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving! I hope that everyone has a wonderful day filled with family, food, and fun. This year I have a lot to be thankful for. I have come a long ways since last Thanksgiving when I was newly separated from my husband and my kids were still reeling from all the changes. This year my kids and I have come through all the difficulties and are all happy and healthy. I have learned to become the person I have always wanted to be. I have a new someone in my life who is all I could have asked for. I have wonderful friends some old and some new. I have a job. I have a home and am able to provide for my kids. I am prepared to give my kids a GREAT Christmas this year. The only thing I am sad about today is that I can't be with my family who lives in Montana or with my sister on her 21st Birthday. Oh well. I will get to see and spend time with my family who lives here that I don't get to see enough. Tomorrow I will be braving the black Friday crowds, wish me luck!

Friday, Finally

After the week from Hell I am so glad it's finally Friday!!!!

Sunday: I noticed Landon had the sweet smell on his breath again which put me into panic mode.

Monday: Lando's dad agreed to take him to the Dr and insist on blood work which made me feel a lot better. Get home to find that my house had been broken into. Had to wait for 4 1/2 hours for the cops to show up. They took a few thousand dollars worth of stuff and went through my underwear drawer ewe!

Tuesday: Super tired from only getting a few hours of sleep last night, feeling a bit anxious about being alone in the house all night.

Wednesday: Long day at work, PMS, filing a claim with my insurance company, worrying about finding proof of ownership documents for some things that I can't afford to replace on my own. Found out Landon's blood work is normal, still questioning why the elevated ketones.

Thursday: PMS, need I say more

Friday: Woke up with a migraine, probably from all the stress.

As far as I am concerned a new week starts tomorrow!

11.11.2009

Relief, kinda...

The doctor said Landon's lab results are normal. Whatever that means. Still no answer as to why he keeps having elevated ketones. I feel better for now but I still don't think this is the last time we will have to deal with this.......

Time will tell

11.09.2009

Scared

I wrote a few weeks ago about juvenile diabetes and how I felt that we still stood under it's shadow. Well as of yesterday that shadow is looming over us. Landon again has the "sweet" smell to his breath and urine. That smell is an indicator of elevated ketones which can lead ketoacidosis

This same thing happened two years ago and I had to fight with the Dr to do blood work. It came back normal then and my fears were brushed aside and I was told that Landon having elevated ketones was just normal for him. It's not normal, everything I have read about it says it's not normal. I let it go because the smell went away and the blood work came back normal.

So here we are again. Jason is going to take him to the Dr today because I have to work. I told him that he may have to fight to get the blood work done but it HAS to be done, no ifs ands or buts about it. I don't understand why it has to be a fight, just do it and get it done. If it comes back normal then my fears are alleviated and if not then we can move forward from there and the Dr can at least know that they didn't send a kid away who really is sick.

My mom instict is telling me that the visit to the Dr is the right thing to do rather than watching and waiting. I am already sick to my stomach with the not knowing, I don't think I could drag this out and wait. On the other hand I don't know if I trust myself to look at the situation correctly. I am seeing things that aren't there? Is he really thirsty all the time? Has he really been more cranky lately? Is there another reason why he just picks at his food?

All the info I know has made me a bit paranoid but it's better to be safe than sorry.

Now I am going to try to have a normal day as I sit and wait and hope for good news.

Tri Bracelet

The ends are a little wonky but it's still one of my all time favorite bracelets I have made. You can't see the weirdness when it's on though and for the future I know how to fix the problem. I am sure if I wanted to go to the trouble I could fix this one too. It took a little effort to make since working with three strands isn't always easy but it was worth it in the end. I have more bicone beads in different colors and have plans to make another, I just need to find more of the spacers that don't cost a ton of money. I think these ones might actually sell if I tried.

Crowns

I like crowns. These are two complete different crown necklaces I have made recently. If I had thought about it beforehand I may have tried to combine the two charms in some way into one necklace. Hmmmm...... No two crown necklaces are better than one.

Inchies

This is the last in my set of alphabet inchies. The top row go with the set and the bottom row are some extras. We agreed to swap 30 in all.
U is for Umbrella, V is for Van Gogh, W is for Wig, X is for kiss like XOXO (i have always thought the X stands for kiss. I may be wrong but it's what I think that counts) Y is for Yell, and Z is for Z in zebra print. The Z didn't turn out the way I wanted, I shouldn't have put it on a black background but I have no more zebra print so it's staying that way.

Earrings Re-Imagined

These started life as clip on earrings. Since I don't go in much for the old lady look I repurposed them in to funky chunky rings which I do go for! I just pulled the clips off the back and used my trusty E6000 to attach them to ring backs. LOVE IT

Thank you!!!!

Thank you to everyone who dontated to help support JDRF this year. Out team Maddisons Monster Mashers raised over $1000.00 I was able to reach my personal fundraising goals too! Save your pennies cause next year we will be back. As always we did the 1.5 mile family walk right along Tempe Town Lake. It was a bit chilly early in the morning but warmed up to perfect walk weather!
At the halfway point they give out fruit and water. Landon needed an apple to help keep up his strength. He walked almost the whole time and was exhausted after.

Here is Adia, Maddison, and another friend just getting started. They walked and ran and finished ahead of just about everyone on our team! They also found some grassy hills to climb and roll down.

Here is my little family within our family showing our support in and pink and black team shirts.
We had a fun day seeing our family and friends and showing our support for Maddison. I am already looking forward to next year!

Halloween 2009

We had a busy Halloween weekend. Friday evening the kids went to the fall festival at Adia's school and came home with lots of goodies. They won the cake walk 3 times! Just what we need the day before Halloween are more treats!

Saturday we woke up early and went to the JDRF walk, I will do another post on that later. Then we carved our pumpkins (thanks Tiff for the free pumpkins!) went to Grandmas to show off the costumes and then trick or treating. There weren't a lot of people out in our neighborhood but that just meant that people were giving out handfuls of cand. We now have a huge bowl full at home plus all the stuff that Ryan bought that we didn't get to hand out. We will probably have candy until next Halloween.
Here is Landon in his boxer costume putting up his dukes! He was punching people and telling them he was just practicing for Halloween!
Adia was a pretty witch this year. She has a hard time choosing costumes but she did good this year. She kept flashing her undies to everyone when pulling up her tights all night. After we went around the neighborhood we hung out in front of the house and the kids passed out candy to the few kids we had come by. It was a fun night over all!

Now add up your points and find out the answer you have been waiting for!

(10-16 points) You are Garfield :You are very comfortable, easy going, and you definitely know how to have fun but sometimes you take it to an extreme. You always know what you are doing and you are always in control of your life. Others may not see things as you do, but that doesn't mean that you always have to do what is right. Try to remember, your happy spirit may hurt you or others.

(17-23 points) You are Snoopy: You are fun; you are very cool and popular.. You always know what's in and you're never out of style, you are good at knowing how to satisfy everyone else. You have probably disappeared for a few days more than once but you always come home with the family values that you learned being married and having children are important to you, but only after you have had your share of fun times

(24-28 points) You are Elmo:You have lots of friends and you are also popular, always willing to give advice and help out a person in need. You are very optimistic and you always see the bright side of things. Some good advice:try not to be too much of a dreamer. Dreaming too big could cause many conflicts in your life.

(29-35 points) You are Sponge Bob Square Pants. You are the classic person that everyone loves. You are the best friend that anyone could ever have and never wants to lose. You never cause harm to anyone and they would never not understand your feelings. Life is a journey, it's funny and calm for the most part Stay away from traitors and jealous people and you will be stress free...

(36-43 points) You are Charlie Brown: You are tender, you fall in love quickly but you are also very serious about all relationships.. You are a family person. You call your Mom every Sunday. You have many friends and may occasionally forget a few Birthdays. Don't let your passion confuse you with reality.

(44-50 points ) You are Dexter:You are smart and definitely a thinker... Every situation is fronted with a plan. You have a brilliant mind. You demonstrate very strong family principles. You maintain a stable routine but never ignore a bad situation when it comes. Try to do less over thinking every once in a while to spice things up a bit with spontaneity!

Do you believe in ghosts?

These are all probably totally fake but still fun!

I need your help!!!!

For the past three years I have walked and done some fundraising for JDRF (Juvenile diabetes reasearch foundation. I do this to support the people in my family who have Type 1 diabetes. I didn't know alot about this disease until my cousin Kelly and her daughter were both diagnosed within 9 months of each other and then when my son Landon began having symptoms such as extremely high levels of ketones a few years ago. He was not diagnosed but it is always in the back of my mind that a diagnosis could be in his future.

What I have learned about Type 1 is:
That it is often misdiagnosed or completely missed by a lot of doctors. This leads to kids who get very sick, this leads to kids who go into a coma, this leads to kids who have seizures, this leads to kids who die. Sometimes these drasic occurances is what leads to a correct diagnoses. These terrible outcomes could be changed if a simple test was done when ANY symptoms show up.

That it is very misunderstood. Kelly talks about this alot in her blog. People think of diabetes and they think of people who are overweight, don't excercise, and eat a lot of sugar and carbs. What people don't realize is that there are two types of diabetes, type 1 and type 2. Type 2 can be controlled with diet and checking blood sugars. Type 1 cannot. Type 1 means that your pancreas does not work and without injecting yourself with the correct amounts of insulin you can die.

That it is not always easy to manage especially in a child. Everything seems to effect blood sugars. Food, excercise, inactivity, sickness, hormones, stress...There is no way to plan for the day ahead all you can do is guess and hope that you can treat the highs and lows if they happen. All you can do is hope that they don't.

That it is work. You have to monitor what they eat and when. You have to check blood sugars countless times a day. You have sleepless nights because you have to get up and check sugars every night every few hours. You have to keep track of numbers. You have to have meetings with caregivers, teachers, and school nurses. You have to educate your children on how to take care of themselves so that eventually they know how to handle things themselves.

That it is scary. As a parent you hold your childs life in your hands in so many different ways. But when you have to be your childs pancreas you literally hold their life in your hands. You have to make life or death decisions regarding their health everyday. You feel guilty if you make a mistake because you know what the consequences are and what they could be.

It is heartbreaking. As any parent of a child who is sick will tell you they would give anything to have their child be healthy, they would take away their pain and make it their own in a heartbeat. You have to be the one to cause them pain by pricking their tiny fingers and giving them injections multiple times a day. You have to do it even when they cry and maybe look at you in fear.

I can't begin to tell you the amount of respect I have for all the parents who have to deal with things 24 hours a day 7 days a week. There is no vacation. (Kelly you really are someone I look up to!!) I can't begin to tell you how much I feel for the kids who live with these things 24 hours a day 7 days a week. I don't know how they do it but they do. I get frustrated for them. I get extremely sad for the parents of kids who don't make it and extremely mad for those kids who could have been saved but weren't due to oversight.

I feel that knowing what I know may someday help make sure neither of my kids is ever lost. I feel we do live in the shadow of diabetes and sometimes I hold my breath watching and waiting for Landons symptoms to return.

Luckily for us we still don't have to live a type 1 life but I know many who do and I want to do my part to help find a cure. Please help by going to my JDRF page and making a donation. All I ask for is $1 and that if you have kids you read up and the information provided here and know the symptoms and get your kids checked no matter what if needed.

Halloween?

I am trying to prepare for Halloween this year but it has yet to really feel like fall here. Just last weekend the high was 88, I guess that's fall weather for Phoenix. Tomorrow it is supposed to finally be cold with a high of 62 but again by Saturday we will be in the 80's. The house has been decorated, the kids have picked out costumes, and we have gone to the pumpkin patch but I still just don't feel it. I think I need to watch It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown. Do they even show that on TV anymore?

We will be carving pumpkins on Saturday after the JDRF walk and I plan to get the kids out trick or treating around 5:30 and then will be passing out candy at my own house for the first time ever. I am even going to kinda sorta dress up which is not something I normally do. I think it will make the kiddo's happy though. Sunday is going to be dedicated to un-decorating the house! I am quite glad I am not expected to decorate for Thanksgiving (which I don't think I am even going to celebrate this year)

So I do like helping the kids go through all their treats and helping the to eat them and I love seeing all the costumes.

I went and saw Paranormal Activity on Friday and I had really high hopes to be scared out of my mind but nope. I was bored out of my mind. 1 hour and 39 minutes of my life that have been wasted. This movie could have actually been good had there been more focus on the spooky stuff and less on the mundane lives of these people. The two actors were completely annoying which didn't help anything. What has happened to scary movies? They are all either PG13 and super lame or R and just gross. Movies in general have turned to crap for the most part. Does no one out there have an orginal idea?? Seems like every movie is either based on a book, an old TV show, a toy, or is your standard romcom/action/stupid funny movie. I will give credit and say that District 9 was original and it was GOOD! Can you think of any other ORIGINAL movies that have come out lately?

I am reading a book called House of Sand and Fog by Andre Dubus III and it is fabulous. Check it out if you can. I will be sending this one up to my dad to check out cause it's so good I gotta share.

Inchies

I am doing a personal swap of inchies. We decided to do an alphabet theme. I forgot to take pictures of the A-J ones I made but here are the newest K-T. They are out in the mail today, hopefully they will be liked.
K is for King, L is for Love, M is for mask, N is for Night, O is for Orange, P is for Present, Q is for Quilt, R is for Rainbow, S is for Sun, T is for T-shirt.

A Walk in the Park

It's finally cool enough to do outdoor stuff again. Well at least it was a few weeks ago. Got hotter again this past weekend. Anyway we had two back to back birthday parties to go to a few weeks ago. The first was at the park. Adia hasn't been to this particular park since she was about 4 and Landon has never been there. They have three separate play grounds all in the same area. There were a million kids there so it was hard to keep a close eye on my two between all the kids and the three playgrounds. They had lots of fun exploring. Not sure that we will be going back there on a weekend though!

So what's up with these emo kids? When I was in high school when a boy dressed like a girl we called him gay!

Oh yeah

Random Thoughts of the Day: These are not my thoughts well actually now that I have read them they are my thoughts!

I wish Google Maps had an "Avoid Ghetto" routing option.
So true! I hate driving through the Ghetto especially strange ones.

More often than not, when someone is telling me a story all I can think about is that I can't wait for them to finish so that I can tell my own story that's not only better, but also more directly involves me.
Am I really this self absorbed? ummm yes

Nothing sucks more than that moment during an argument when you realize you’re wrong.
Damn I hate it when that happens. It's not very often mind you

I totally take back all those times I didn't want to nap when I was younger.
What the HELL was I thinking???

The letters T and G are very close to each other on a keyboard. This recently became all too apparent to me and consequently I will never be ending a work email with the phrase "Regards" again.
Hee hee I actually did it on purpose, shhh don't tell!

Do you remember when you were a kid, playing Nintendo and it wouldn't work? You take the cartridge out, blow in it and that would magically fix the problem. Every kid in America did that, but how did we all know how to fix the problem? There was no internet or message boards or FAQ's. We just figured it out. Today's kids are soft.
Very soft. Oh and we have an original Nintendo at home and I still blow in the games when they don't work!

There is a great need for a sarcasm font.
I can't tell you how many fights have been caused because of the lack of a sarcasm font.

Sometimes, I'll watch a movie that I watched when I was younger and suddenly realize I had no idea what the fuck was going on when I first saw it.
That usually happens during the sex scenes and then I realize that I STILL don't know what the fuck is going on!
Sometimes I also realize that OMG this really ISN'T a great movie, example the orginal Ghostbusters. Check for post last October for more on the floating poo in that one.

The other night I hit a new low at an open bar. I had already hopped on highway blackout when, inevitably I had to find a bathroom. Eventually I decided it was probably on the other side of the bar so I tried to walk over there, but ran into a guy coming the other way. We played that, Both go left, Both go right game to no avail, so I finally put out my hand to guide myself past and that's is when I realized, yup, that's a mirror I just tried to walk through. And the guy on the other side is me. Even cats can recognize their own image.
No this has never happened to me, I have my own drunken stories, but damn that's funny!

How the hell are you supposed to fold a fitted sheet?
Oh yeah I don't I just wad it up and shove it in the closet

I would rather try to carry 10 plastic grocery bags in each hand than take 2 trips to bring my groceries in.
This is why I have a strong boyfriend

The only time I look forward to a red light is when I'm trying to finish a text.
so true

A recent study has shown that playing beer pong contributes to the spread of mono and the flu. Yeah, if you suck at it.

Was learning cursive really necessary?
No, cause even when I write something by hand which isn't often I don't write in cursive

Lol has gone from meaning, "laugh out loud" to "I have nothing else to say".
LOL

I have a hard time deciphering the fine line between boredom and hunger.
Which accounts for the roundness of my ass

Whenever someone says "I'm not book smart, but I'm street smart", all I hear is "I'm not real smart, but I'm imaginary smart".

How many times is it appropriate to say "What?" before you just nod and smile because you still didn't hear what they said?
2 the answer is 2

I love the sense of camaraderie when an entire line of cars teams up to prevent a dick from cutting in at the front. Stay strong, brothers!

Every time I have to spell a word over the phone using 'as in' examples, I will undoubtedly draw a blank and sound like a complete idiot. Today I had to spell my boss's last name to an attorney and said "Yes that's G as in...(10 second lapse)..ummm...Goonies"
Love it when people say Y as in you that will confuse those "street smart people"

What would happen if I hired two private investigators to follow each other?

While driving yesterday I saw a banana peel in the road and instinctively swerved to avoid it...thanks Mario Kart.
Watch out for the turtle shells too

MapQuest really needs to start their directions on #5. Pretty sure I know how to get out of my neighborhood.

Obituaries would be a lot more interesting if they told you how the person died.
Or if they ever had someone I knew in them...Insert exboyfriends name...

I find it hard to believe there are actually people who get in the shower first and THEN turn on the water.
Again with those street smarts

Shirts get dirty. Underwear gets dirty. Pants? Pants never get dirty, and you can wear them forever.
or until they get so stretched out you have to keep pulling them up

I would like to officially coin the phrase 'catching the swine flu' to be used as a way to make fun of a friend for hooking up with an overweight woman. Example: "Dave caught the swine flu last night."

I can't remember the last time I wasn't at least kind of tired.
Does this mean I am old?

Bad decisions make good stories
The BEST stories

Is it just me or do high school girls get sluttier & sluttier every year?
This means alot coming from a former high school slut

If Carmen San Diego and Waldo ever got together, their offspring would probably just be completely invisible.
Nah cause it would have on a red and white stripey shirt and fedora

Why is it that during an ice-breaker, when the whole room has to go around and say their name and where they are from, I get so incredibly nervous? Like I know my name, I know where I'm from, this shouldn't be a problem....

You never know when it will strike, but there comes a moment at work when you've made up your mind that you just aren't doing anything productive for the rest of the day.
Usually around 9:00 AM

Can we all just agree to ignore whatever comes after DVDs? I don't want to have to restart my collection.
Blu-Ray Sucks

There's no worse feeling than that millisecond you're sure you are going to die after leaning your chair back a little too far.

I'm always slightly terrified when I exit out of Word and it asks me if I want to save any changes to my ten page research paper that I swear I did not make any changes to.

"Do not machine wash or tumble dry" means I will never wash this ever.
Eh Screw it, I wash em anyway. I like to live dangerously

I hate when I just miss a call by the last ring (Hello? Hello? Damnit!), but when I immediately call back, it rings nine times and goes to voicemail. What'd you do after I didn't answer? Drop the phone and run away?
Do people also realize that all cell phones have caller ID. If I have known you for more than a day I probably have your number programmed and I can see you called. Don't leave me a voice mail saying call me

I hate leaving my house confident and looking good and then not seeing anyone of importance the entire day. What a waste.

I like all of the music in my iTunes, except when it's on shuffle, then I like about one in every fifteen songs in my iTunes.

Why is a school zone 20 mph? That seems like the optimal cruising speed for pedophiles...

It should probably be called Unplanned Parenthood.
It was for me

I keep some people's phone numbers in my phone just so I know not to answer when they call.

Even if I knew your social security number, I wouldn't know what do to with it.

Even under ideal conditions people have trouble locating their car keys in a pocket, hitting the G-spot, and Pinning the Tail on the Donkey - but I'd bet my ass everyone can find and push the Snooze button from 3 feet away, in about 1.7 seconds, eyes closed, first time every time...
For about an hour a day too

My 4-year old son asked me in the car the other day "Mom what would happen if you ran over a ninja?" How the hell do I respond to that?

It really pisses me off when I want to read a story on CNN.com and the link takes me to a video instead of text.
At least warn me!

I wonder if cops ever get pissed off at the fact that everyone they drive behind obeys the speed limit.

I think the freezer deserves a light as well

I disagree with Kay Jewelers. I would bet on any given Friday or Saturday night more kisses begin with Bud Lights than Kay.

The other night I ordered takeout, and when I looked in the bag, saw they had included four sets of plastic silverware. In other words, someone at the restaurant packed my order, took a second to think about it, and then estimate d that there must be at least four people eating to require such a large amount of food. Too bad I was eating by myself. There's nothing like being made to feel like a fat ass before dinner.

Cause I can

A small rant cause it's my blog and I can...
I have been a very faithful swapper on Crafster for 1 1/2 years now and have had some really good experiences. So much so that I turned a fellow crafter on to them to start swapping. I have only been flaked on once before in the 30 swaps I have done, until now. I don't know if I am just having some bad crafty karma lately or what but I got flaked on again. I have swapped with this particular person before and recieved a fab package and last I heard is that she had been sick. So I am not upset about the fact that she wasn't able to send cause I get that life happens, it's understandable. I know something must have happened since it seems she dropped out of sight on more than one swap. I just don't like the complete lack of communication. I know I probably shouldn't complain because if something happened in my life who knows if I would even be thinking about swap partners etc but a quick e-mail saying I can't send for whatever reason would have been kinda nice. Then at the same time a package was received that didn't seem to even meet the swap size requirements. Maybe that is me being silly and for that crafter it did meet the requirements but I don't know, more always seems to be better when swapping. I love Crafster but I am going to take a swap break for a while and concentrate on making some things for myself, the kids, friends, and for the holidays. Okay there I am done with my mini rant. Sorry for any other Crafsters who may not agree....

Cinderella Stocking

I started this sucker last year and it was to be a gift for one of the kidlets in my family. I think I underestimated the amount of time this would take and I didn't get it finished (it had absotively nothing to do with me procrastinating and or getting bored with it) in time for Christmas. So here sat Cinderelli 90% done for the last 9 months. I decided to finish it up finally. Now I am done and I don't know what to do with it! I may just give it to the person it was orginally intended for last year and hope she likes it.

I have a goal to make an advent calendar and two or three more stockings before Christmas this year. Yeah we will see how that goes...

Pumpkin Patch

We visited Tolmachoff Farms over the weekend for their pumpkin patch and corn maze. The weather is finally cooling off so it was a nice morning spent outside. Adia and Landons favorite thing was the corn box. The box was filled with corn instead of sand. They also played in a bouncy house, rode on the train, and shot tomatoes out of a cannon. We saw goats, chickens, ponies, pigs, and an ostrich. We did not attempt the corn maze, I don't know that Ryan or I would have had the patience to be wandering around in some corn for an hour or so. I am not sure either of the kids would have made it through either!

Both kids got to bring home some small pumpkins which they colored faces on with markers. I will post some pics of those later.
They also got to help decorate the house for Halloween. We don't have many Halloween decorations but we still had problems finding places to put things. I need more display space of some kind! There was also the usual arguing about who got to put what up and where. I am so not looking forward to Christmas decorating. I think I am going to separate things into separate boxes and give one to each kid, and cross my fingers this helps with the arguments.

I finally feel like the holiday season is upon us. It seems that from Halloween to Christmas time goes so fast. I have luckily started my Christmas shopping already and am getting close being done! That is a first for me. I have lucked out and was able to pick up a really hard to find item for Adia that she wanted and got a $100 something for Landon for FREE. I like FREE.

I still haven't gotten to try the Halloween Dots yet but Ryan did buy me a box of regular Dots for family movie night on Friday. Ahhh he remembered that I wanted Dots! I may break down and spend the $7 for the giant bag of Halloween Dots though, I can't leave it to chance that the kids will get some while trick or treating.
In swap news, I have finished swapping for the year. I have holiday crafts that I want to work on for family and friends. All my packages I have made have been sent and received. It seems I have been flaked on in one of the swaps and will probably end up needing a swap angel to make me a package. Adia received a box filled with goodies for her and Landon has a package on the way. I kinda feel left out with no packages coming for me!

On a closing note, if your BFF ever says lets try a shot of 99 Apples, say no.
