Foodie Friday- Sweet Chicken Marinade

I am very addicted to Pinterest.  I have no idea what I did before it was invented!  I love all the inspiration it provides for arts & crafts, sweet treats, and food.  All these wonderful ideas all in one place!  It's so fabulous.

One of my favorite things to pin is food.  I am a rather picky eater but I like to try new things so being able to find recipes for just about anything all in one spot is pretty awesome for me.  Most of the things I try these days are recipes I have found via Pinterest and this one is no exception.  It's a super simple marinade for chicken that has the perfect amount of sweet and a tiny bit of tart.

I whipped this up before work then grilled the chicken up for dinner.  This is all I had to take a picture of (and even this was eaten) since it was liked by all.  I was actually disappointed that we polished all the chicken off since I wanted some to put in a salad the next day.  This one will go into my dinner rotation for sure and next time I am going to make quite a bit more!

Stenciled Tee's

I made some stenciled Tee's in the past week for swaps and birthday gifts.  In the Ongoing Wish Swap I made a claim for two kids tee's.  This Dino-Mite tee was made by cutting the stencil with my Silhouette Cameo.  I suppose using the Cameo to cut the stencils is kind of cheating... but they turn out so much nicer than my hand cut ones!

I also made two shirts with hand cut stencils.  This Creeper shirt was made as a birthday present for my Minecraft obsessed son.  He of course loved it and it took a total of 10 minutes for me to cut the stencil and paint it.

I also made this robot tee with a hand cut stencil.  I haven't figured out how to make "islands" with the Cameo for stencils and there were teeny pieces that would have been hard for me to hand place in the right spots so I used my Exacto Knife to cut him out.

It seems like it's been quite sometime since I have stenciled anything and I forgot how easy it is to make a handmade shirt.  I have ideas swirling for some fun custom Valentines Day shirts for the kids.

Craftster Hoopla Along December

Month 7 of Craftster Hoopla Along had a winter theme.  Makes sense since it was for December.  I went to Urban Threads website to browse their wintery patterns and found this little guy.  I decided I wanted to stitch him up in a small hoop so it could then be hung on the tree.

Ebates

Now I usually try to keep the blog pretty crafty and foody rather than as an advertisement but I had to share this website with whomever may read this blog.  It's called Ebates.  You may have seen their commercials where they talk about getting paid to shop online.  Well I am here to tell you it's true.  I have earned over $60.00 cash back just from my holiday shopping.  Besides giving you money back they also have all the newest coupon codes offered by each site.  I have gotten coupons and cash back from Kohl's, Walmart, Bath and Body Works, Drugstore.com and more.  If you are an online shopper like me then sign up and remember to always start at Ebates when you are shopping online!!!  Here is a link where you can sign up

Happy Shopping!!!

Foodie Friday-Oven Fried Chicken Wings

Wings? Yes please!  I LOVE chicken wings!  I like them on the bone, extra crispy, and spicy!!  When I saw this recipe for baked wings on Pinterest looking all golden brown and yummy I knew I had to try it!  Now don't go thinking that these are healthy baked wings cause they aren't!  They are breaded and cooked in butter.  Lots of butter.

As usual I didn't follow the recipe exactly.  Since I didn't happen to have curry powder and I wanted my wings to have more kick I made my own breading.  I used flour, garlic powder, chili powder, salt, pepper.  Coated them and baked them per the directions.

Mine didn't seem to turn out as brown and crispy as the ones shown on the blog but they were still okay.  A bit buttery.  Well I suppose that is to be expected since they are cooked in butter!  Next time I may try using vegetable oil instead.

Happy New Year!

I made this tote bag for my partner in the Secret Santa Swap.  She wanted a bag to carry her ongoing crochet projects when she was on the go.  I had some leftover owl fabric from a previous bag and decided to use this tutorial from Molly's Sketchbook to make this tote.  I added a large grommet at the top of the bag in order for her to thread her yarn through as she worked.

I had intended to make a pocket on the inside to hold her hooks but that didn't work out so well!  So instead I sent along a crochet hook roll I had received years ago but didn't use since I can't crochet well!

I wish everyone a great 2014!
