Teesha Moore Patches

I first saw these patches on Craftster. A member was inspired by these fun randomly stitched patches by an artist named Teesha Moore and posted about them. Their popularity took off on Craftster. I watched the YouTube video instructions on how to get started an added it to my want to do list. For over a year….

I finally had a shot at making them in a swap I did. I decided to make some Harry Potter themed patches for my parnter and since she wanted a wall hanging I ended up stitching them all together. For the patches I stenciled the HP logo with fabric paint, the feather is machine embroidered, and the flying key was made from charms I had in my stash. Everything else was hand stitched.

So after making this batch I found that I am hooked! I joined another swap that was just for patches to start adding to my own collection and I made these.

Now I am in an Ongoing Teesha Moore Patch Swap and made these two patches for my first claim.

I am sure I will be making more in the future since they are super fun and I need to continue to add to my own collection!

Invite Your Partner Swap

The fabulos pinkmichk invited me to swap with her in the Invite Your Partner Swap on Craftster WAAAAY back in July.  I posted only a few photos of the amazing things she sent to me on Monday since the pictures I took way back when seem to have disappeared...

Here are the things that I sent to her...

A crayon roll that I made for her son

A few sets of note cards cut with my Silhouette Cameo.  I quite like how the top three turned out.

A beaded Kumihimo bracelet done in pinks which is her favorite color.

Two stenciled shirts from some of her favorite fandoms. A Harry Potter and Hunger Games mashup and  Doctor Who featuring the tenth Doctor and the TARDIS.

Finally a key fob done in what reminded me of a race flag.

Since these things were made months ago I don't have links to all the sources but could track them down if anyone is interested.  I know I found the pattern for the Crayon Roll on Skip to My Lou, and the Doctor Who pattern is from a free pumpkin carving pattern I found online somewhere.

December Hoopla Along-Winter Hoop

I started this hoop in January 2014 for the Craftster monthly Hoopla-Along but it never got finished... It was my first go with doing some fill stitching and I chose a very tedious method.  The hoop sat on my desk begging to be finished for the next oh 10 or so months.  When it was announced that the December 2014 theme in the Hoopla-Along was going to be winter I knew it would be the perfect time to finish this one up.

The pattern was purchased from Urban Threads and stitched using a chain stitch, back stitch, and straight stitch.

12 Days of Christmas

Monday I got to show off all the awesome goodies that I received in the Mini 12 Days of Christmas swap and now I am going to show off the goodies I sent.  My partner super spoiled me and I hope that what I sent was loved even if it wasn't as much as I received.

The first thing I made was a reusable advent calendar.  I used my Silhouette Cameo to cut out the design I used on the back.

Then I used lots of festive papers to decorate each box.  It was then filled with a few Kisses for each day.

I stitched up these mini hoops to be used as ornaments for her tree.
The pattern is from Kimberly Ouimet on Etsy

I have been collecting wine corks to try out some new crafts and decided to make a few ornaments.

I of course also had to make some jewelry!  I love the way this winter themed cluster pendant turned out.

Also a braided Kumihimo bracelet done in Christmas colors.

I made this fun felt banner using pre-cut snow flakes and felt circles.  I sewed the snowflakes to the circle by hand then used my sewing machine to get them on the ribbon.  The felt pieces were purchased from Pitterpattery

Two fun snowman magnets made from a kit I purchased at Retro Cafe Art Gallery.

I stitched up this cute coffee hoop using a free pattern from Wild Olive

And of course since note cards are my new favorite thing to make she got a set.  The Thank You cards are my favorite!

She had this super cute Santa wreath pinned so I sent that along too.  It's wrapped in yarn and I created the belt with ribbon and the buckle is paper cut with my Silhouette.

My partner also had these super cute felt houses pinned.  The Etsy seller actually sells the houses fully assembled.  I messaged her and she was nice enough to sell me a set of unassembled houses that I could put together myself.  These were also purchased from Pitterpattery

It's crazy that Christmas is about a week away.  The month has flown by!  I still have lots of Christmas things to share!

Stocking Swap

I was partnered with kittykill in the Stocking Swap and I know she really likes the vintage look.  I was able to find an awesome piece of fabric that had a preprinted stocking shape on Etsy that had the perfect vintage look.  Since my sewing skills are minimal I thought this was a good way to go.  Just cut and sew.  The stocking is also fully lined.

Continuing with the vintage theme I made this wee snowman ornament out of a Mason jar lid.

I knew that kittykill really likes pink and she mentioned having a pink Christmas tree so this cupcake ornament was a must do.   I used cupcake liners, a bulb, fake snow, beads, and a mini bulb to make it.

Of course I had to do a shrine.  Looking at a lot of the vintage Christmas stuff I realized they used a lot of non traditional colors like pinks and blues.  I dyed the bottle brush tree pink myself and found these amazing resin reindeer on Alpha Stamps.  The tree Shrine kit came from Retro Cafe Art Gallery.

I also decided to include a set of Christmas cards that I made using my Silhouette Cameo.
The trees are all designs I had in my library and I cut them then glued them to red cardstock cards.

kittykill had this super cute snow globe necklace pinned that was so cute!  I glued the tiny tree in the bottle and added some glitter.

I also made her a charm necklace with a wintery theme.

I had a great time crafting for her and have an extra special hoop I also sent that will get it's own post.

DIY Advent Calendar

Every year my kids look forward to counting down the days until Christmas.  Usually they each get a little calendar that has a tiny chocolate for each day but last year I discovered that LEGO makes an advent calendar.  I found them on sale online and ordered one for each of the kids.  It was really fun to see what little set would come in each day.

This year I again ordered the LEGO calendar for Landon but I felt like Adia had outgrown it.  So I searched for other options and couldn't find anything so I decided to make my own.  I ordered a blank countdown box (links below) and  some Christmas themed washi tapes to decorate each box and this is what I came up with.

I had a lot of different ideas for fillers but decided to do a charm bracelet.  The first day of the calendar had a bracelet in it and each day will have a new charm that can be attached to the bracelet.  I alternated between clear, silver, and red for each day.

By Christmas she will have a full charm bracelet to show off with her Christmas outfit!

These link back to Amazon and when I bought the LEGO calendar a few months ago it was half the price that it is now.  I suggest getting that early if you want one for next year!

Also I bought the washi tape by the yard from Cards Crafts N More on Etsy.  I love washi tape but it's nice to not have to buy a whole roll if it honestly won't really get used for any other projects.

Sweat Shop Ornament Swap

I participated in the Sweat Shop Ornament Swap on Craftster.  I made a total of eight ornaments and received eight different ones in return.  These are the eight ornaments that I sent out.

A set of felt houses that I stitched up.  Each house is a different color and has different embellishments.  I purchased the precut house pieces from Pitter Pattery then stitched them up myself.

The second set of four that I made are these cork reindeer ornaments.  Each reindeer is made up of 3 and half corks, ribbon, bows, red noses, and some Christmas colored floral stuff for the antlers.  All the elements are hot glued together with an eye pin screwed to the top so they can be hung.

I made another set of the felt houses for another swap and plan on making more reindeer and other cork ornaments to give as little extras with my Christmas presents this year.

Note Cards Cut With the Silhouette Cameo

I joined a swap where you set up your own little store with premade items to sell for points which you can then spend in other peoples shops.  I made up a few different sets of note cards for my shop.  The first set is a  Spring Fling set that features an umbrella, flowers, and the silhouette of a rainy day girl.  I used the sketch pens on the umbrella card to write out Happy Spring.

The next set are thank you cards in three designs.

These are just note cards that can be used for anything.  I really love the one that says Hello.

Finally, another set of everyday cards with coordinating scrapbook paper.  These were sent to a partner in a different swap.

I really love how all the cards turned out but unfortunately they weren't very popular in the swap.  So now I have lots of cards to share with others in future swaps or to save and use for myself.  Hmm or maybe I will gift some to family with their Christmas packages???  I have lots of new designs to use so I will keep making cards and will hopefully find a good home for them!

November Hoopla Along-Hello Fall

I stitched up this little Fall hoop to help welcome the new season.  This hoop is what I imagine Fall would be like if we actually had it here.  Living in Arizona we don't really get any of the Fall season.   By the time we are having Fall type weather it's already December and full blown winter for everyone else.

Pumpkin spiced everything, beautiful colorful leaves blowing in the breeze, bright crisp mornings and evenings.  That is what I think Fall would be like.

I can still have my pumpkin spiced everything but it's not the same when it's 92 degrees out and we are still wearing shorts and tank tops!  Come on Fall we are ready for you!

Boo! Hoop

I stitched this sweet little hoop up for a friend on Craftster.  She received a ho hum package in a swap and to help make it right I wanted to send her a little something extra.  I asked her to send me a few patterns and this is the one I chose.  I printed it a little smaller than I meant to so the design was too small for this hoop but too big for the other hoops I had... Ooops.  I still love the way it turned out and that I got to use lots of different stitches.

I used a back stitch, the lazy daisy on the leaves, satin stitching for the candy corn, stem stitching on the letters, and finally the French knot.

This was a free pattern that can be found here if you wanted to stitch it up too!
